Frequently Asked Questions

  • Do I have to have previous tennis experience to play in this league?

    • Absolutely not! The format and structure of P&P will allow anyone to jump in and begin playing immediately, plus this is a new way of playing tennis anyway! We’ll teach you the basic rules. We’ll also have a coordinator on-site to share pointers and tips for success as we go along.

  • How much is the league fee?

    • The league fee is $75. This includes six weeks of matches, player gifts, drinks and snack, and an end-of-season social.

  • Do I need to bring my own racquet?

    • No. In fact, because were are using a smaller court and lower compression red balls, we will provide the racquet you need to use for the court size. We will even let you keep the racquet at the end of the six weeks.

  • Who can play in the league?

    •  Anyone 21 or older.

  • How long does each session last?

    • Each session will run for about an hour and a half, from 6:30-8:00pm, after which you’re welcome to join us for fun and camaraderie at a nearby restaurant.

  • What does a typical session look like?

    • We’ll begin each week with a warm-up to get some cardio, and then you’ll team up for some match play. The scoring format will vary each week, just to give you new and exciting ways to play. Depending on the pace of play, we should be able to get a few matches in each week.

  • What happens if I miss a week?

    • You’ll be surely missed, but we’ll toast to your speedy return.

  • What happens if it rains? Is there a rain plan?

    • The coordinator will contact you the day of play with further instruction. For a rain-out, we will add it to the end of the season.

  • Do I sign up individually or with a partner?

    • We’ll help pair up players each session, so if you’re coming in solo, don’t worry! That said, if you and a friend want to come play, the more the merrier. You’ll definitely get a chance to play together, but we also think it’s fun to mix it up and meet new people, so anticipate playing with different partners too as the league progresses.

  • What is a red ball?

    • It’s a little bigger than a standard yellow ball and has lower compression (think squishier), which makes it ideal for use on the more compact P&P courts.

  • What does the court look like?

    • P&P short courts are 18’ wide by 36’ long, and they make for a fun, fast-paced match.
